it’s been a little over a month since i’ve gotten rid of windows from my life (again) altogether and i gotta say i haven’t noticed it. the linux experience nowadays is so smooth i think anyone can do it with little to no assistance.
what assistance IS needed can easily come from community discussion, as every major distribution under a spotlight is so well documented and has a big community forum presence, if you know where to ask you’ll get help.
gaming is such an easy thing to set up now with steam and the ongoing improvement of Proton, for everything else there’s easy as hell installers like Heroic Games Launcher (for Epic) and Lutris (literally everything).
for productivity and art if you can’t find the one thing you pay for working on it i guarantee there’s an open source native alternative that has such a dedicated community that it’s standing 1:1 with whatever you are trying to use.
the two i always think of are Blender and Krita, who have seen such major improvements in even the past year that i can safely say they’d be right at home in any professional setting.
i hate sounding like an evangelist but there really is no better time to give it a shot. Set a small partition and give Pop_OS a try. You’ll be shocked at how easy it is to integrate
