Is a f@tt style Holiday Special. During a huge peak in the story, the game suddenly shifts away from it's isometric 3d style or whatever CRPG flavour it uses, and suddenly you're playing a completely separate game. Like if the goblin siege in Baldur's Gate 3 was instead done entirely in Balatro.

I really liked how Tyranny basically does the other FATT thing of using a different game at the beginning to facilitate creating your character's backstory.
Oh man does it? I gotta check that game out.
Dragon Quest XI is a 3D modern (at time of release) RPG that has a specific place where it turns into a 2D RPG, but the actual game rules remain the same. It doesn't happen until you're many, many hours in, though.
