I got the impression that it was, like, a personal decision thing. August Righteousness was part of a group with the goal of reuniting/becoming a part of their original divines again, but Eclectic wasn't interested in that at all. Which makes Eclectic's death more tragic, but yeah, it felt like that happened with very little fanfare or elaboration just to speed toward Leap.
I had the same thought, about the little fanfare, but the more I've sat with it the more I like it? It's such a sad moment for me, Eclectic feeling responsible for what is happening with the divines after being the impetus for their release then goes to do something about it and is just swallowed up by it. They were ultimately too small and the thing against them too big, and to compound that smallness their loss is immediately overshadowed in the fiction by the triumphant arrival of Leap.
I don't begrudge anyone not liking it , or feeling like it deserved more screentime, but the way it played out has really wedged it into my brain in a way that bigger deaths like Figure didn't so much.
I just don't understand why they didn't roleplay that scene out. Especially because Art had just played Opposition. I don't take issue with the choice to kill Ecclectic, but I do think the execution was in a word, bad. You can roleplay on your ttrpg show guys, don't be scared.
