Let's set aside the hilarity of the bill situation and focus on the condescending "think the economy is terrible." The average American doesn't solely "think" about the economy. They experience it. Food, gas, housing - all of these things have increased dramatically in price with little to no wage increases to compensate. The economy IS TERRIBLE. It's just not terrible for the wealthiest of our country.
Economic reporting is highly, highly skewed to the views of business owners and the wealthy investment class. The conclusions it draws about the health of the economy are focused on how well those groups are doing.
We don't think the economy is bad. We fucking know it is because we're suffering. And we won't be tricked into thinking otherwise.
