The cis person doesn't realize they can shapeshift into an invisible creature.
Heck, not even accounting for non-cis-ness allowing the shapeshifter to pick a form that is most comfortable, shapeshifting gives a ton of powers unto itself if conservation of mass doesn't matter:
- Flight
- Run fast
- Jump high
- Swim fast
- Better sense of smell
But also, you practically can gain the most of the benefits of invisibility through shifting into a very bland, non-memorable form.
Why would anyone take invisibility over shapeshifting? You can be a cat, you can be a dragon, you can be a hot girl...
As someone more or less comfortable eith my birth gender... Shapeshifting for sure

Fuckit, I'm cis, shapeshifting is the obviously superior power. I was also a big Animorphs fan, so I might be biased.
