Goddess and Princess. I do art and writing and coding. I probably don't do nearly enough of anything.

Been on a bit of a Slayers kick lately, and that invariably mmeant thinking about what a crossover with Madou/Puyo would look like. And I have some ideas of stuff that happens, but yesterday was when an image of an entire scene formed in my brain with a lot more detail. So I wrote (most of it) down. (also, I write and notepad and HTML tags. it's just how I do things, don't worry about it)

@cobalt-ex asked:

Is there anything you’d like to see Puyo crossover with (in terms of character interactions mostly)?

I was about to say "not particularly" since any crossover would be limited to Quest, which means the overwhelming majority of the not-Japanese fandom would never get access to it.

That being said, I think it'd be pretty cool if there was something going on with Slayers. Something I did a little bit of art for last year. The fact that Lina and Arle are contemporaries but the influence between them seems fairly minimal from what little I've observed, is pretty cool to me. Lots of interesting juice opportunities.

Also, I think it would be cool where, if Lina were in a Puyo game, then when she starts an 11- or 12-chain or higher, instead of doing the normal chanting she just recites the full Dragon Slave incantation.

So I mentioned I really like Puyo Puyo, yeah? No? Well you know now.

But I also like Slayers (if not as much as some of my friends). Which is an interesting bit of synchronicity on its own, because they both started in 1989.

Well, sort of. Slayers began serialization in January 1989, but it wasn't until November that year was when the prototype of Madou Monogatari 2 was released. That prototype was followed up with the full release (under the title Madou Monogatari 1-2-3) the following year.

Either way, both Arle Nadja and Lina Inverse-- two teenaged headstrong sorceresses-- were created that year. And they're still making new stuff with them in it, which is hella cool.

And yet, their respective franchises have maintained very distinct identities. Arguably even more cool.
