Spoilery discussion under the cut:
"Last time, they spent eight hundred years running towards each other. This time, it only took an instant to fall into each other's embrace." - the full quote
I'm an absolute sucker for stories that cover a very long period of time. TGCF manages to make it feel like eight hundred years, and I mean, being as long as it is, how could it not? I lost count of the number of times I cried and both main characters are now some of my favourite characters ever. This ship has big MadoHomu energy, and I'm starting to think maybe this is the kind of plot-driving ship that always pulls me right in?
I can't in good conscience recommend the book to everyone, because there's some casual transphobia and racism (mostly in the first volume, and it gets better about these things later, plus the transphobia gets addressed in a sensitive way later and the novel has canon genderfluid characters etc).
Frankly my Chinese handwriting has no business being as pretty as it is, it's even better than my English/Latin alphabet handwriting fr.
