frankly it's ridiculous that SpeedTree is actually a tool for making trees, like, of the foliage kind. my every instinct tells me it should be the name of some kind of dry technical middleware for generating optimised search trees

Maybe you can meet in the middle, and also use it to search for the foliage trees it makes.
