The DS zeldas are so good and so much fun, Phantom Hourglass was my first Zelda game and I didn't play Spirit Tracks until only about a year ago, and I love them both.
I went from A link to the Past on GBA to Phantom Hourglass and those two experiences were so wildly different from each other in a way that captivated 13 year old me. I had to understand how they related to each other. By the time Spirit Tracks came out, I'd absorbed enough information to completely understand how these titles relate to each other.
But yeah! Both the DS Zeldas were really charming. I'd say that Spirit Tracks was the stronger title, but Phantom Hourglass had Linebeck as a main character, which really helps its case out.
