quake lee (it/its) is, most of the time, 5'2" tall. it wears clothes designed for that size, and given that its family members are all in the tall 5' to 6'+ range, it has a bit of a size complex.

my dad's 6'3" tall. i'm 5'6" tall. my sister is 5'9". my mom is 5'7". i'm shorter than LITERALLY everyone in my family.
i wonder if that did anything to me.

quake went to university for bronze age history in the earth-equivalent it lives in. when it got short listed for a postgrad trip to a new dig site in the desert, it happily went.
there, it helped uncover a stele that had so far unrecognized text. that was its postgrad thesis.
through a few years of intense study and cross-referencing further discoveries from the dig, it managed to piece together a very rudimentary understanding of what it was. which, fortuitously, ended up being a truly ancient spellbook.
and the spells worked.
at first, things were deeply experimental and careful. tapping certain sigils to combine syllables to form words in certain ways to do specific things. one time, when distracted, one routine spell went slightly askew. that's when it realized that imagination and will are critical.
after graduating, it did odd jobs while it travelled around doing absolutely nothing with its degree except practice more and become more familiar with the sigils. it memorized a few spells, and, one night while high and couchlocked on a stranger's couch, made a wise decision.
the next day it ran out, bought a tattoo machine, then shaved off the fur on its fingers. for the next six hours, it painstakingly tatted each sigil on its fingers, between each joint. it was a fairly complicated alphabet, 32 sigils, so it took up all four non-thumb fingers.
now though? with consistent practice it can do just about anything.
for fetish reasons, it's memorized "shrink others" "grow others" "grow self" and "make other invulnerable," as it understands them.
you know. normal shit.
the possibilities otherwise are literally endless.
so now, quake lee the evil vixen, is just kind of a wild drifter that goes around doing literally whatever it wants with its slowly expanding knowledge of how to interact with an infinite plane of magical energy that very few others have any knowledge of.
