Jeez, now you're making me feel positively ANCIENT!
But yeah, Debut was fantastic and the start to an amazing career. I remember when people mocked Radiohead and Bjork fans for listening to bands that had "singers who screamed like wounded cats". How times have changed! Those people still say the same stupid thing, but meanwhile Thom and the icelandic fairy have enjoyed an incredible success and inspired millions of people. I love them both!
Look on the bright side: you were alive to witness the beginning of her greatness! :D
I haven't listened to many of Radiohead's songs (those I did listen I liked a lot), but man, Björk is so unique. She can be strange at times, sure, but it's exactly her oddness that makes her so freaking good. So, yeah, "Icelandic fairy" describes her really well!
I was soooooo into Icelandic bands at the time. Björk, Sigur Rós, múm.. I toyed with the idea of making a trip there just for them. Among the more recent bands I really like Low Roar (for reasons you know all too well) and I was really sad hearing the news about the singer. I still listen to Once in a long, long while.. from time to time.
Iceland has produced some amazing artists (and films/TV shows). Low Roar is fantastic. A real shame about the singer. I also love Of Monsters and Men and, more recently, Daði Freyr has entered my playlist as well!
He was quite popular in Eurovision :D My favourites of his are "10 Years" and "Think About Things". He makes very light-hearted and cosy songs :)
I've discovered some nice artists ever since I started watching it three years ago haha Hope you like Daði!
