Obviously, the biggest danger of a cosmic horror is perceiving something so beyond human comprehension that you lose your mind, your sense of reality, your identity, etc. Well bad news, we've got a cosmic horror situation. We need people that won't even try and comprehend this thing. The kind of people that don't bother with rational thought. And the kind of people that are armed to the teeth and can use a gun without thinking. The good news is... this horror has landed deep in the heart of the United States of America.
