last night i dreamt a video game where you chase babies down a mineshaft as they giggle and scurry ever downward. the graphics were very simple and tile-based, kind of like dig dig or that new shovel knight dig game, except the baby tiles had very small jpegs of laughing babies on them. anyway every day you had to collect them before nightfall and every morning they would break out again, with slightly improved digging abilities so that dirt or rock types that stopped them earlier would become diggable. over time the babies’ digging would open up new and dangerous cave biomes to rescue them from. i don’t think the babies were ever really in any danger. i don’t know what would happen if one stayed out overnight. i think if anything the cave denizens would be in danger from them.
