I hate the way modern tech just DOES things instead of letting you do them because it's so afraid you won't figure it out. Like I work in games, I know people will miss things. That's okay! The only alternative is what's happening now, where everything just autoplays, pops up without you asking, keeps running in the background, or any number of worse things. And when you design like that, the only options you can give to end users are disabling the feature entirely because you don't have a manual control affordance designed at all! The one that set me off today: videos on android becoming floating mini players. Why not just have a button to do that like every other option? Why have it happen automatically every time and force me to close them? Oh boy you've saved me a tap every time I want a video to not stop when do something else and also don't mind it eating a large area of my screen.
