Watching the Gamecube LGR retrospective, and god

what a good console. It made me sad when he was like "No one I knew had a Gamecube, and no one really gave it a chance", because to me, that thing was the SHIT. We had a Gamecube and also an OG Xbox, and since growing up and experimenting with all the consoles of that generation, I really do think the GC is the best console. Like, ever made. What a great little thing.

Don't really like the Wii as much but hey at least it's backwards compatible.

As someone who was high school/college-aged during the Gamecube's lifespan, I can tell you all I got hella shit for picking it over the PS2 or Xbox. It was $100 less, Capcom announced an exclusivity deal for Resident Evil games on it, and I wasn't really interested in DVD playback, so I figured that was the best choice for me; and I enjoyed it a lot. But goddamn, I was so sick of all the "fisher-price controller" jokes.

I was originally saving up to get a Dreamcast, but...well...you know how that turned out. 😔

I always liked it. Felt like an extension of the four player action me and friends enjoyed during the N64 era, and extended that just a little longer before online play took over. I still break out Toadstool Tour from time to time and have been off-and-on trying a first play of Resident Evil 4!

HIGH AGREE. I love so, so many things about the GameCube--- To the design and colour, to the OS UI and sounds, the controller, and so many amazing games that hold up super well to this day. I remember being pretty shocked once I learned it didn't do well sales-wise.

I know it doesn't have the aesthetic but I'll take a Wii all day to play GC games off the SD card.

I love the gamecube intro but I'm not paying whatever scalper fucks want for it now. Wiis are, at least for now, still damn near free if you dig.

And what matters for a console are the games anyway.
