Since it's a prequel to DQIV, Psaro always has to end up as the bad guy, but he's also still a silent protagonist. So the further you get into the story, the more companions you lose because he just keeps picking the most evil possible choices without being able to verbally explain why he's doing it. We have his backstory so we do understand why, but it's really frustrating to watch when he's not allowed to hear him reflect or justify his actions to himself when everyone around him keeps saying "hey maybe don't kill all humans actually"
If he wasn't a silent protagonist then this wouldn't be an issue, or if they didn't chose an established antagonist from a previous game, but when they choose both, it makes it extremely hard to watch his character arc take a linear plunge downward.
