Every year, all the Toads and Toadette remove themselves from the castle to find a place outside where they are alone. Then, their cap burst open, and release hundred upon hundred of spores. The Toad/Toadette shrivel and die, but the spores will grow to become the next generation.
What we see of the Toad is just a tiny part of a larger system underground. A Toad does not really "walk" nor "jump"; they are moved by the birth and death of hyphae on an elastic mycelium.
