I have this memory in 2012 of my arrival in Tokyo. I was staying in a rental room somewhere in Tokyo for a few days before shifting to a one month rental, which would give me time to sort out banking and find a proper lease, which actually took me closer to two months because it's REALLY hard to rent as a foreigner in Japan. I ultimately saw over a dozen apartments.
The memory of the 2-3 day stay prior to moving to my intermediate-stay place is 100% false and never happened. I have a sense of the shape of the hallway, which side of it my room was on, the shape of the reception area, and if pressed would produce a detail or two about my stay, a neighboring building, and a green space between the two.
But as time has passed and this memory has occasionally bubbled up, the question of where exactly this was has been a point of confusion, as has my identification of this place as operated by the same company that rented my intermediate stay unit.
So this morning, I cracked open the deadname email and found the old records.
It turns out I went directly from Narita to my intermediate-stay place in Sangenjaya. This several day stay nowhere in particular... probably just some scrap of a vivid dream taking up real-estate.
