and it's gotta be one of the prettiest games i've seen in recent memory. it's got a very soft, almost pastel, color palette. the bloom is a bit strong, but i feel like this is one of the few instances where it makes sense with the art style.
i'm not very far in - only chapter 2 - but i've been quite enjoying it so far. the basic encounters are pretty trivial, but the bosses and some of the extra strong monsters and trials feel like a decent challenge.
i really love the character designs. the main cast all look great, but even some of the side characters are bangers (seriously, why did they make Morley's mom so cute?).
the english dub is a definite step up from whatever they did for the main cast of Trials of Mana remake, but the mixing and direction of some of the side characters... hoo boy, that's some unintentional comedy there.
i've got a few issues with it so far. most of them are nitpicks, like the camera being terrible in battle, but it's been really solid overall so far.
the most important thing the game has done, though, is have the largest and most powerful city in the world be populated by squirrel people. Visions of Mana has the bravery to acknowledge the self evident truth that squirrel girls reign supreme.
