random idea i wanted to jot down before i forget: analog fighting game. ttrpg combat system that incorperates quiz show buzzers in order to have an element of reaction speed necessary. every round the GM announces or randomly rolls a situation, and the first player to buzz in can announce their reaction, with the caveat that the whole system is complex enough that picking the wrong reaction is likely.
in example: Blackleaf and Elfstar are having an Elf Karate fight. The GM rolls that Elfstar accidentally dropped her guard. if Elfstar's player buzzes in first, she could choose that she spends the round dodging to negate the vulnerability. If Blackleaf's player buzzes in first, she could choose to take advantage of the situation to launch a heavy attack. because players need to announce their actions immediately, however, Blackleaf's player might forget that Elfstar has enough Combo Points by now to launch a special counterattack that negates heavy attacks.
i feel like someone must have built a system like this before, but i can't think of anything off the top of my head. it would certainly be a change from tactical battlemaps.
