Fallen Aces came out last Friday and I've been greatly enjoying it. It's a game about a hardboiled 1930s detective investigating the murders of a defunct Watchmen-like superhero group.
It's an ImSim - feels like if someone built Dishonored over a Boomer Shooter framework. Actually, that's is a good point of comparison - the very dense and interconnected level design reminds me of Dishonored, which is a very good thing. I really like the visuals too. It's not just all the Dick Tracy-esque tropes and symbols used, but something in just the colors and textures that give the game a strong sense of place and time. It's a testament to how good art direction can make a game with 2d sprite characters and low-poly world models feel engaging and memorable.
