We have to save the past by going to the future! No, don't ask how that works it's complicated and involves 5D chess.

REP stands for "Raptorial Educational Platform"! I come fully loaded with military grade laser pointers and Powerpoint.

anyone remember when i went on a bit of a long rant about how inferior my new insulin pump is to my old one and was most disappointed by the fact that i couldn't even use the new one's most anticipated feature because of phone incompatibility of all things??

apparently there's a way to get around that, and lookie here:
a photo of the omnipod 5's screen, which shows that it is running in automatic mode

✨ it fucking works! ✨

i unfortunately hadn't thought to look into this until just this week, but hey, better late than never! i found someone who put together an easy-to-use workaround for getting the Dexcom app on otherwise incompatible phones, and it even includes some QoL improvements to the base one as an option! if you're curious about the project, they've got a Patreon up!

Hacking life-critical personal medical equipment is not on my 2024 bingo card, but it should be.

in reply to @TuxedoDragon's post:

On the one hand, it's probably a good thing that devices get rigorous testing and approval instead of letting the free market pump (heh) out half-working nonsense and call it a day.
On the other hand, we really should just have dedicated devices instead of turning everything into an app~. But at least you wrangled it onto your phone!

It's extremely transhumanist cyberpunk to be hacking tech tied to your body this way, really.

really glad u were able to get around that <3
jailbreaking (in a way) ur capitalist-made life saving medical device like this so it works in the way u need it to has got to feel good
