Big pictures I put together and posted originally on Twitter, I think, or something like that. These information-dense scribbles are more about my own experiences with learning late in life about my intersex status. That said, my baseline research into this is seemingly only being elevated by concurrence between publications. More discussions about the future of human mating prospects in a pollution-wracked, post-industrialized, climate changing world are arriving to similar conclusions particularly as Microplastics are investigated.
That said, Coal and Famine both produce lots of Autistic Queers after a few generations of effects. You'll note that current arguments about transgender identity mirror claims startlingly familiar with the "vaccines cause autism" crowd, and yes, that crowd tends to assume all cases of Autism are equivalent to Severe Cognitive Impairment (or 'Mental Retardation'). It is for this reason that I personally do not reframe from saying 'Retarded'; the ceding of the term to Industrialists and Social Conservatives allows them to use it to reduce me and mine into a small category. Following the tradition of Queer Reclamation, I refuse to let them dictate the meaning of the word.
Just a little extra content from the stuff I've done, I'm feeling pressure to work on more of this but Narcolepsy is making my life hard.
I was recently asked by a friend for literature talking about the relationship between burning Coal and populations of children developing ASD. Naturally, I went to quickly to grab a few citations with a basic finger dip into Google Scholar and wow, I sure got quite a scatter of US studies from 2010 to 2023.
Also one from China.
Edit 11/28/23: I got a really good comment about the first two of these references not being so definitive, and I think it's worth stressing that this series of observations are an open question. While I highlight a lot of specific mechanisms of action, I should remind readers that I make use of if, might, and possibly a lot. While I think my use of these articles is defensible (it is a surface scatter of only five, after all), they like all pieces of scientific literature are only capable of demonstrating so much individually. I don't think any of these papers are Type 1 Error material, per-say.
