Gordonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.................. come ON, MAN
You canonically received firearms training as part of the Black Mesa Hazard Course! Why this was part of standard job training for a fucking physicist? Who knows! But SURELY it included the information required for you to not hAVE YOU FINGER ON THE TRIGGER FOR EVERY SINGLE RELOAD WHERE THE TRIGGER IS VISIBLE

DUDE

Also, christ's sake, get a second hand on that USP, hold the damn thing properly, you're gonna hurt your wrist and make it impossible to line up follow-up shots with any kind of speed. At least you're holding the revolver correctly, but you're still not HANDLING IT SAFELY, TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER WHEN YOU'RE RELOADING!!

ALSO DO NOT FLICK THE CYLINDER SHUT, CLOSE IT WITH YOUR HAND!!!!!
For those that don't know why you shouldn't do the stylish little flick-shut with a revolver cylinder in real life, it's extremely easy for this to not actually fully close and align the cylinder. If you try to fire a revolver when the cylinder isn't properly shut and aligned, best case scenario, it just doesn't fire, because the hammer will strike the firing pin, and the pin will just miss the part of the bullet casing that ignites the gunpowder and fires the slug.
Worst case scenario, however, the bullet isn't lined up with the barrel, but the firing cap of the bullet is aligned with the firing pin, and it catastrophically misfires, causing the bullet to hit the frame of the gun, likely making it basically explode and send shrapnel everywhere.

This is apocalyptically bad trigger discipline and overall gun handling. Somebody should take those away until he can be taught how to operate them safely, it's a miracle he didn't get glock leg in the first game with how magnetized his pointer finger is to the trigger of every firearm he gets ahold of.

(At least he keeps the guns all pointed downrange when reloading, that part's good.)

Gordon's HEV Suit is actually Power Armor, so one-handing something like a USP-45 (though this might be a USP in 9mm, as I think that's what the handgun ammo indicates on its model) especially with that fat-ass compensator on the front would be pretty easy. His shown recoil is a bit much with that consideration in mind, but 9mm out of a full size handgun like a USP is actually pretty comfortable for veteran shooters. Gotta think about the Gravity Gun as the comparison of weighty to punchy ratio, Alyx Vance literally hefts the thing like it's 80lbs and Gordon just swings it around like it's a paper weight.

The Spas-12 he handles doesn't even have the option for a stock in HL2, and let me be clear I would not shoot a Spas-12 with the mythical "double barrel" alt fire without the stock if I was using it for any kind of actual combat. Some of the more exotic weapons like the RPG, Crossbow, and Combine AR have difficult to characterize recoil impulses, but all would be rather weighty and certainly difficult to use with skill. Gordon's trigger play might be limitations of the gloves on the Power Armor, locking at a maximum angle due to their status as armored. As for weapon malfunctions: Gordon could in fact throw every empty SMG on the ground and pick up a new one for multiple segments of the game. City 17 and its environs are lousy with guns to the point that it should not have surprised the Combine that a mass armed resistance was possible.

There is a sort of classlessness to handling a wheelgun like Dr. Freeman, but think about the psychology of the man who literally has not had enough time to shit let alone eat in over ~96 hours of non-stop high adrenaline gun fighting with aliens, soldiers, and alien soldiers. He basically killed an elder god single handedly without much assistance from anyone (even if we consider Black Mesa Source as a revised canon, the Vorts and Lambda team didn't really help all that much), he probably picks up a brand new magnum every few hours, doesn't even check the sight picture, and because its the same model the man just has a mean hipfire. I say let him fuck up the cylinder tooth on a few dozen revolvers, no one else is gonna make meaningful use out of them (literally everyone we see with one in HL2 is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound).

The man wears glasses, I think he's actually an AU Hickok45 who got a degree in physics instead of going into teaching and 3 gun competitions.
