benny's east - wrongfully accused rp
Roleplay tends to get a bad rap in gaming circles. A lot of bigger streamers tend to partake in GTA roleplay in a way that's fun for the viewers, but many players may be turned off of giving GTA RP a shot because of how dull it must be to deal with content farmers when you're just trying to play your role as a particular character.
my friend Fawnin has been able to find some fantastic hole-in-the-wall servers with smaller, tight-knit communities who take their roleplay rather seriously, and it often results in some of the most impactful fictional experiences i've have in my life.
Wrongfully Accused RP is one of those types of servers. It just launched this week so there are a few bugs in various scripts to be ironed out, but its launch day was pretty clean for a FiveM RP server and is certainly in adequate shape to dive into. There's no erotic roleplay allowed either, so if you're like me and you'd really rather avoid that kind of messy ass scenario or maybe even livestream your playtime on the server, WARP would be great for you!
I already have two characters developed and getting action in the city. Let me tell you why these characters are cool, and why you should follow this link to the FiveM Forum post and join their Discord to get into the whitelisted WARP server.
STRIX LEPTOGRAMMICA.

Strix is my first ever roleplay character and happens to be pretty much my default personality, just elevated a smidge. Born as a rural queer hardened by years of neglect from her parents and a dream to escape to the lawless island of San Andreas - a place her parents demanded her not to go as long as they lived - she arrived in Los Santos in 2019 with fresh eyes, a little shyness and her boyfriend Cameron by her side. She found a job as a mechanic with old hometown friend Ronnie Dawkins as her boss. Before long, she was comfortable enough to come out of her shell and call the city her new home. She became close with her old friend and made new ones as well, becoming particularly close with Ryan Copper - a street racer and a man of very, very few words. As time passed, her boyfriend started showing significant disruptions in his behavior. He started getting possessive of Strix, and treated her friends like garbage. It came to a breaking point where Strix and Cameron had an argument in their apartment; Cameron would leave the home agitated, driving his old Vapid Chino lowrider at full-tilt away from the complex.
The next day, police shot him dead after he'd kidnapped a police officer.
Cameron's body was then shipped off to his family in Carcer City, leaving Strix without any closure for that agonizing chapter of her life. In retaliation to this injustice, she used her big Dundreary Regina 4x4 Stationwagon to tow Cameron's lowrider to the summit of Mount Chiliad, and with Ryan Copper's help she dumped it off the cliffside.
Months would pass and life would start to feel normal until Strix began having nightmares about her dead ex in her sleep, turning her into a total insomniac. She wasn't working at the shop as frequently, and seemed to stay sheltered in her apartment complex for long periods of time. Eventually, without telling a soul, she left San Andreas to regain her composure on a country-wide road trip.
She eventually settled down in New England, where she once again found a job as a mechanic to make ends meet. It was the work she loved, but it just didn't feel the same without her friends. Finding herself homesick for the first time in her life, she drove cross-country to San Andreas in a clapped-out Bravado Greenwood to catch back up with her old friend Dawkins.

All of the backstory described is canon to Strix, and all the lore that took place in San Andreas actually happened within an old server my friend and I used to play on. In Wrongfully Accused, Strix is that exact same character - only now, she's a few years wiser and working at a corporate mechanic shop with her friend Dawkins as her middle-manager boss. she's the character I got my actual name from, and she means quite a lot to me. However, there's another character who's quite impactful for other players...
LEXI STRICKLAND

Lexi Strickland grew up in Denver, Colorado with two neo-pagan parents and a sister. For her 24th birthday, Lexi's parents gifted her a 1975 Classique Panorama stationwagon to let her seek out her dream of becoming a nationally-recognized cartomancer. After two years of traveling across mainland America, she now finds herself in Los Santos - a state where many residents are famously led astray from their lifepaths and pushed directly into their vices. She sees this island as a test for all she's learned as a cartomancer, and oh boy, is she ever gonna be tested.
///
Lexi is a character I cobbled together as an experiment on a server I previously frequented. I had recently purchased The Hayworth Deck, a deck with extremely haunting visuals that dig deep into the psyche. I wanted to test these cards out on a wide audience, and GTA RP was the best place to do it. After a trial run in the Beyond Limits RP server (rest in peace) I realized Lexi could be a deeply impactful character without requiring significant character development. In fact, most players found that Lexi's readings could actually spur forth inspiration and direction for their own characters, and many players mentioned using Lexi as a way to push past writer's block and move forward with their characters.
Some players even mentioned the readings would blow straight past the characters and affect them personally. One particular player was almost moved to tears.
(yeah yeah, "and everybody clapped." but also, this isn't reddit and that really happened.)
Lexi isn't really a strong character on her own. She's just a traveling cartomancer, and I have no long-term goals to develop her character beyond "that one witch whomst does tarot." She is incredibly simple as a character yet remains a source of fantastic roleplay scenarios. Through my skills as a cartomancer, Lexi is memorable and even aspirational to all the players whose characters interact with her in spite of the simplistic character work.

My point is, you can be as intricate or as simplistic as you want to be with your characters. My friend Fawnin has one particular character whose whole shtick is just "he talks complete gibberish at you for a bit then leaves." Plus, you can interact with BOTH of my characters on the Wrongfully Accused 5M Roleplay Server which YOU CAN JOIN! Just follow the link to the Discord server in that FiveM forum post, get FiveM (and GTAV) installed and have some good ol' roleplayin' fun in ways you only dreamed of as you played GMod DarkRP! :P
