so I got an idea of an mod where there was a playable civ of 'vanilla' werebeasts
which gone down a route of testing and troubleshooting where the key for this to work was to make it so the werebeasts lose the creature tag 'crazed' when arriving to the fort.
and on top of that I decided it would be funny if I replace their bite with a shapeshifting curse that turns who ever they bit into an permanent randomized animal person.
the main creature civ is made up of 3 factions elf, satyr, and foul blendec who end up being given an interaction that lets them cleanse a werebeast this mechanic is align to werebeasts or night creatures 34 to 50 so any misaligned night creature types getting caught in the crossfire is acceptable, the civ also has about 11ish pure werebeasts (just the creature and not someone who is cursed to turn into the creature) domesticated so they would show up in caravans and migrant waves. that last bit made it a bit messy.
given now there a potential chance the fort jumps the werebeast showing up and kill them before/after they stop fighting, then there's the polymorphic wounds that slowly turn them into different animal people which may or may not make it so they aren't able to do mining and woodcutting labors like this poor werecoati doctor who got mauled by a weredeer and weregiraffe and they all got morphed into a stoat, wren and red squirrel person.
oh and one of the elves that got bit by the werecoati ended up getting bit during the mod patch period where they just turn into a werecoati... but less crazed
so far whole lot of transformations in this fort.
and people just hauling stuff and not putting stuff down.
the things dwarf fortress could let you get away with in modding.
