So it turns out the Kid's Online Safety Act (KOSA), the Heritage Foundation-backed plan to let among other things State Attorney Generals determine what's allowed on the internet by what they think is appropriate to children (and is already being stated by Republicans to be targeted against trans people and abortion information) is going to be attempted to hotlined through the USA Senate by Senator Cantwell. Who's a Democrat, because this is a bipartisan goddamn bill backed by 22 Democrat senators because they're either schmucks who didn't read the thing or the letters from say, 74 LGBTQ+ groups coming out in opposition to it and think for five seconds, or cynically throwing everyone under the bus because they don't want to vote against a bill "for the kids". Oh, and Biden supports it because of course he does. *loud, exasperated, infuriated sigh*
The good news is that hotlining is a measure that doesn't work if any one Senator objects to it, and Senator Wyden already has stated his opposition to it, but this thing sucks so much, so please make whatever noise you can to make it harder for them to all chicken out in terror of being called in opposition to kid's safety (or sheer stubborn technological illieracy and unwillingness to think for five seconds) and pass the facist bullshit anyway.
