Technically, the DS always could pull those tricks, heck it had a higher poly version of Mario 64 on it. I too wish more developers used the full potential of the system.
It made me so sad/frustrated when Bloodstained was getting announced and everyone seemed to forget these games (and the two GBA Igavanias) existed, they're so good (and Bloodstained really felt like it started as an Ecclesia sequel).
