Getting myself put on e621's DNP list, because fuck them. I shouldn't have to do this, but that same disrespect of artists that leads to me not wanting my stuff on their site also means they just upload anything unless explicitly told not to.

The weirdest part about this is I have to call myself an artist (???) to get put on their DNP list. Like... I guess I am??? Maybe?

@FaeAlchemist

Lmao they fucking declined me because they assumed since I don't upload to FurAffinity, I don't upload anywhere. I explicitly asked to be added to the "DNP Artists list" too, so I clearly didn't miss their bullshit where they won't let you blanket DNP your OCs.

Sending another post with a link to my art on Cohost, we'll see how that goes.

So after ghosting me for a week, forcing me to chase them up, they sent this. A bit bizarre to me really. I don't want my art on their site. They don't want my art on their site. Therefore they will not prevent people from posting my art to their site.

I just... don't think that applying quality control to the DNP list makes sense? (I did read their uploading guidelines, my art only fell afoul of nebulous "Quality Standards", specifically "All submissions need to display a solid grasp of artistic principles.") It's already too long to be human-readable. And how am I supposed to know when I create a piece of art that passes their standards?

I've sent a response asking one last time to be added, since relying on not being of suifficient quality is a fucking terrible idea (I phrased it politer). I fully expect to be declined again, but it's not like I've got anything to lose.

I might make a post at some point detailing why I didn't want my art there in the first place (it's the institutional transphobia and interphobia mostly), since it seems like a shocking proportion of the furry community just don't know about it; but I do not have the spoons right now.

Yeah, this is relevant to bring up again in conjunction with @GoopySpaceShark's posts. We never did write the post teased at the end, but we did write a short post about how e621's mods are pro-Nazi. I don't feel there's an urgency to dive any deeper than that really.

Oh, and we're not as weird about recognising ourselves as artists as Cradle was back then. Character Develoment.

in reply to @FaeAlchemist's post:

"to get approved for uploading, it has to have a reliable source. as yours does not, we won't post it."
"yes so put me on the DNP list."
"we don't have to because right now, there's no situation that you'd ever have your stuff on here."

summarized for you. I mean, they got rules, but I don't think its them being dickish. It's them... just working with the system they got, and telling you that what you want, is already done for you.

No. Because if we ever make a piece of art that meets their subjective quality standards,1 they will consider it perfectly legitimate to upload. There is not peace of mind for us here. Only for them.

Besides, I'm not really gonna cut the site we were boycotting for having shitty systems any slack for having a shitty system. It's also "just working with the system they've got" to misgender trans people and ban people for speaking out against their pro-Nazi policy.

  1. Which yes, I did infer this. So I am curious why you appear so confident that it's about reliable sources? That's not in the screenshot you claim to be summarising...
