I've been feeling fucked up over the past couple of days because my brain decided to pose a question to me that put everything re capitalism into super stark terms. The question that popped into my head was, "Just how much horrible, bigoted, transphobic, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic, pick-your-phobic, colonialist, patriarchal, fascist, nationalist, anti-democratic, militaristic, every other negative part of society that exists, would effectively CEASE TO EXIST within five to ten years of capitalism being dismantled, since the profit motive for so much of it would also cease to exist? 😬
I thought I was already radicalized pretty significantly but here we are... Just... literally, the "public servants" that fight to implement so much of this monstrous hell-world shit (using the culture war as fuel for their elections and such) would have no interest in being "public servants" anymore. They wouldn't be there. They wouldn't be there to push that shit or to enable the other side to push that shit, meaning the politicians would get significantly more boring as well as significantly more effective at making living conditions improve... There would still be reactionary fascist blockheads, but the difference is that the vast majority of enablers in government who have no real interest in what other folks do in their personal lives and are only in it for the money and (less so) the power wouldn't be there to prop them up.
If I made a wish to a genie to dismantle capitalism overnight, Mitch McConnell would retire overnight as well. Schumer, Pelosi, Cruz... name an establishment politician that remains there because of the profit motive, Clyburn, Sinema, Manchin, Collins, Murkowski, Klobuchar, Newsom... Jim Jordan would retire from politics and try to get a job coaching again which would require an intervention... DeSantis would still try to be a politician but he couldn't swing it because there would no longer be a donor base to prop him up... Pence would disintegrate immediately with the realization that he spent the greater part of his life absolutely humiliating and debasing himself with no benefit whatsoever... that guy would gain godlike powers for a millisecond to will himself to cease to exist for assisting reality as a whole in figuratively ratioing him endlessly... Clinton and Obama don't have any positions to retire from but I guarantee you would never hear a single word from them ever again, which while not necessary would still be a nice bonus.
Utilities would be nationalized as soon as possible resulting in better maintenance of infrastructure which would mean significantly fewer deaths from extreme weather/temperatures.
Drug manufacturing and research would be nationalized meaning orphan drugs would no longer be a thing. A public healthcare system would also be implemented in a surprisingly short amount of time meaning transition costs for folks would be covered for everyone as well as everything else medical under the sun.
And hey guess what? There would effectively be no more military industrial complex meaning the profit motive for assisting Israel in committing genocide would evaporate.
... I need to eat a rich right now dammit. One whole rich. No screw it, two entire rich, I'm not on a diet! ☠️
