people be like "what's the point of living if we're just going to die"
and it's like, bitch you bring value to your own life. We live because we're alive.
who cares if you never have some greater impact on humanity, the world, the universe
making friends and forging bonds and relationships is what life is about
motherfucker
I'll add that, our relationships with others are what it's about.
We think of having a great impact upon humanity and the world as doing positive heavy lifting for others on our own, but that's not how it works or how its ever worked. Those with greater means are able to have a somewhat larger impact on their own, but no individual's impact is greater than a community of many members working towards a greater positive goal for the future of those around them. On top of that, those who are trying to make the world better today are standing on the shoulders of giants, and they are only giants because there are shoulders under their own feet.
If your means are such that all you can do is be kind to those around you, doing that will make things better. And together, with enough of that, little kindnesses here and there, we lift each other up and work towards a future with less suffering and lighter hearts.
