wrapped one ending after uhhhhh 30 hours of playtime (a lot of which being idle time or boss attempts) and yeah that game is definitely in my top 5 of the year for SURE, i'm coming off of it really really positively.

we will see if this persists after a NG+ run (runs??) but i am truly in love with how the game feels, how its written, and the general design philosophy of it.

in reply to @Reedrill's post:

something I was just talking about with a friend the other day is how people are generally more dismissive of plots and writing that would be perfectly fine on paper, often purely because it's in the context of a video game which means it needs to work harder (regardless of how reasonable this might be) to grab someone who already decided they don't want to care

Armored Core has always had a really fun narrative presentation and nailed the feeling of being an independent mercenary living in a fucked up world with your sick ass robot and AC6 really takes advantage of modern tech to capitalize on what it's already been doing without feeling like it needed to go into full on "here's a bunch of guys moving around and emoting in fully rigged cutscenes that relish in a movie-sized script". the plot combined with the presentation and sense of immersion that contextualizes all the shit you do really comes together nicely and strongly, it's the sort of thing that i'd def notice if it just Weren't There
