Thanks for saying this, because it gets to the heart of something that bothers me about the fandom for this era of the franchise: Credulity.
Case in point, Majel Barrett was a brilliant and beautiful performer who elevated every scene that she was in for, like, half a century, "just" by having great chemistry with everybody else in the scene. But the writers have the main characters not like her signature character, because the 1990s wasn't comfortable with sexually active mature women. Therefore, fans of (that part of) the franchise don't like the character, because how could Picard be wrong about someone...?
