and i dont even mean the bodycount, although I do admit... Like I kinda realized at some point the stakes had gotten so stupid as to be unfulfilled and there was literally zero risk of anything happening? I mean the Exorcist is a SLOW movie, but it has a CLOCK on it. It ticks. It rolls over. a Dial is turned, and the situation escalates, slowly. But you always feel it move up, even from 0 to 1. It has multiple pots it lets boil so the last 20 minutes is actually a CULIMINATION of stories. It's willing to risk you being BORED even though it knows you'll respect the tension building.
