So much about that game is about cops, it bugs me so fucking much. The talent tree system is one BIG cop who just stares at you like 'oh you want to be good at this? Well you gotta be good at these other random things first and in these specific ways."

It reminds me of painting swords on miniatures vs. painting guns. Swords are great, big flat surface you can do all kinds of neat stuff in, a few fancy bits for embellishment. Guns are big and finicky and clunky and full of stupid awkward bits and if you don't paint them just right it looks bad, people get mad at you if you don't handle the material the right way... Morrowind is a sword (good, expressive) and Starfield is a gun (bad, restrictive)
