SVGs support css, including media queries. screen size testing media queries in an SVG test against the embedded size. So i'm just showing/hiding resources based on that size :)
this is why file formats are my favorite thing in computers™️. i didnt even know SVG supported animation!
Oh that is interesting! I noticed the SVG animation a little while ago and just assumed that the inline view was some kind of cropping side-effect lol. Really clever using media queries for this.
haha thanks! yeah I was testing out a few versions for a bit before landing on this one
Oh, dear. This seems to have revealed a bug in Firefox on HiDPI displays; I get the same image for profile view and comment view, and I get the flappy icon that should be for comment view on the inline post view.
Filed https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/113724 to report this issue.
your comment let me know that i was not seeing it as it should be, looks like they've closed your issue though which is not too helpful of them
Unfortunately, the fan on the laptop where I saw this died, and I'm waiting for a new one to be shipped from China, so I can no longer repro. I've filled a Bugzilla ticket, copying over the info from the webcompat repo; if you can reproduce, would you be able to post a confirmation and things like your exact user agent?
