This night, apparently 10 years ago now, has grown to hold an almost-mythical position in my mind. It was the last Rock Band DLC, closing a chapter on a great run of weekly releases. It was also about a year or so after we had been acquired by CBS, which led to this event perhaps being the first time anyone ever asked me "why are you guys still there" and "so when are you guys getting the fuck out of there?" Over the course of that PAX I was asked those exact questions probably like four times. Probably should've taken the hint back then.

A lot of bad shit happened in the months and years after this night, such that this night has kind of become some kind of Boogie Nights-like hard end, close-the-book, fade-to-black marker for that chapter of my life. And now every time I hear American Pie, I think about how it was.

It was a few years before this, but I met my wife at the Rock Band Nights hosted by Harmonix at ImprovBoston in Central Square. I wasn’t at this one but I recognize a few people in that video and the whole scene just took me back over ten years.
