man as much as i can rag on rateyourmusic and its Very Serious culture, it definitely does seem more and more like the best route to take for these kinds of sites in the face of letterboxd just being everyone doing mediocre stand-up to get screencapped for twitter. at least, i can see how and why it consistently holds a spot in the culture, and has actual respected artists doing interviews for it.
ill take a dozen word pastas talking about my favorite music being mid because it isnt pink floyd, over "porter robinson if 'making bangers' was a full time job." at least ones earnest, and at least one of them means you get those thoughts thrown together by someone who probably didnt think too much about it, but whose honesty leaves something with you to this day.
I'll stand up for any guy who gets too in their moods and just rambles for twenty paragraphs about where an album was for them at a certain point in their life, or just venting. fuck yes. thats what its about.
