It's pretty impossible for me to listen to Orville Peck without getting emotional. Beyond the obvious reasons of him being excellent at what he does, after years of struggling with through poverty despite being employed (thanks, retail), I had a new job and better healthcare, my medical transition was moving along and I was approaching something resembling baseline stability. I had decided to try and see one live show a month. After seeing Poppy with some friends, the next month we decided to catch Peck when he came through Phoenix. It was an amazing show. That was March 9th, 2020. That was pretty much the last thing we did before any chance at stability went out the window.
