Ye'h, ya really gotta multi-role these days; it's real hard to do just the one thing unless you're into something real specialised, and there's very few entry level openings for that unless you know someone!
Everyone else has gotta at least know the very basics of mad fabrication, some crazy plumbing, ideally a bit of mad glassblowing, and being able to do electrickery is almost a requirement!
Mad scientist naturalist with greenhouses full of endangered and aggressive plants. And too many bags of mulch. Sneaking out at night to plant them in potholes in the freeways and plant really aggressive climbing vines on government buildings. Getting a tour of the state house just so they can release spores for a mold that eats paint annd plaster along with wood, and resists copper and sulfur based treatments. Constantly smells like isopropyl from going back and forth between growing space and clean labs. “Poison ivy has it easy, the plants just do her bidding or whatever! But me? No! I gotta work to make these baby’s grow how I want ‘em! And stay out of my fungus lab I don’t need extra contaminants In there!!!!”
