I'm tempted to build a browser plugin designed specifically to make those APIs return fake, very harmful (to the advertiser) data. Making it seem like you clicked each ad 50 times, returning only the highest CPM topics when asked about user interests etc, interfering at every step of the way. This way, you could run such a plugin instead of an ad blocker if you feel a moral obligation, help out the webmaster (fake clicks would generate revenue for them), and hurt advertising companies. Win-Win-Win?

Given a large enough install base for such a plugin, I think it would become very difficult to actually pin point specific websites for this, since the traffic would be spread out. But fair, steps probably should be taken to avoid actually harming webmasters
