Welcome! I'm Bard. Been around the sun 28 times and I've been writing for about 15 of those years.
You'll probably see a lot of memes here, but my original posts are probably gonna be me throwing my writing and worldbuilding into the void. I hope y'all enjoy my little bit of cosmos and I'll do my best to make it an enjoyable space!

Also go to my partner's page! She's amazing and I'm lucky to spend much of my time with her. Her page is also prettier than mine, because she's a lot smarter. https://cohost.org/mathsbian?page=0

I've been trying to get back into the swing of creation, so here's some concept art for The Umbra!
They're a Fae-born species whos ancestors were the detached shadows of True Fae. They have culturally developed a ritual which allows them a second form that isn't a three dimensional shadow, and when not in these forms can take a myriad of shapes- from commonplace animals like cats, dogs, and foxes- all the way to fully fleshed identities that share species, culture, and habitation with the other species of the area.

Hope you like them! I had a couple concepts I was unhappy with before I went with the faceless shadow person design, but any input is appreciated!

Hi everyone! Since I'm building hype for the campaign and the way it's gonna run, I should probably tell everyone the people their characters could be! I will have much better entries for individual ancestries, but this post will serve as a baseline for character creation.

Hominids:
A familiar sight to all, hominids are going to be anywhere you go- and are sometimes emulated by other species in efforts of integration.

  • Humans: you know what humans look like. Versatile, durable, and hard to pin down in words alone. They Exist all over the world and have countless cultures. The shortest lived of all hominids.

  • Elves: lithe, dextrous humanoids that are unable to die of old age, and can perfectly adapt to their environment over the course of decades. Culturally Partitioned into four courts that represent the four seasons.

  • Dwarves: stocky, durable humanoids with dense hair and long lives. They are masters of engineering and are responsible for the creation of the common language. Two kingdoms of dwarves exist with countless independent city-states all across the world.

  • Halflings: Slight, agile humanoids with a knack for travel. They are capable of integrating anywhere through wit or even stealth. Halflings travel and settle everywhere in the world, but only have cities or towns in their homeland of Eshrem.

Draconids:
Obligate carnivores from the frozen, volcanic North. Rare outside their homeland, Draconids have much pride for their culture and lineage. They are all able to use a breath attack which usually corresponds to their scale color. All Draconids of this brood live to about 700 years.

  • Draco: human-sized dragon folk with four limbs and wings like true dragons- if upright. They are the most populous people of Avin, and use their versatility to their advantage in a culture of singular power.

  • Xilla: (pronounced Shill-Uh) ten to twelve foot tall dragon folk with four limbs and no wings. While upright and smaller than true dragons, they are still a people of impressive physicality with vicious claws and a powerful tail. They tend to lead solitary lives.

  • Kobo: a smaller breed of Dragon with only two arms and a serpentine body, and feathery crests- they are deemed by many other Draconids as a brood well suited for mining. They are a keen-minded folk, however, and have since become paragons of Draconic magic.

Primordials:
The first people of Gaia, they embody the four classic elements of fire, earth, water, and air. Currently they appear as odd elemental giant-folk, and are desperately trying to preserve their crumbling empires.

  • Jotunnus: Fire folk, cursed to have a second head manifest on their body and to have strange cravings. They are the most common of Primordials, and their homeland is Muspela, where they employ a diplomatic rule of hospitality in tandem with furious rage against their foes.

  • Titanus: Ice giants about 10-12 feet tall, cursed to be conspicuous for their past actions of information trading. Their homeland of Titanheim is a mysterious place which keeps its borders closed aside from sending odd raiding parties. Many Titanus leave their homeland for good, realizing the harm their leaders are doing.

  • Cyclopus: Stone Giants about 11-13 feet tall, cursed to have a valuable stone within their head, visible for all to see. Their homeland is the nebulous system of tunnels beneath the surface of the world: a hidden country with a forgotten name. Since their people's curse was laid, Cyclopus operate in secret and make lifelong friends with great caution.

  • Atlanus: Giant folk of about 12-14 feet tall, cursed to be trapped within cloud. They have no homeland, but their culture remains just as rich within their nomadic lifestyle. They are a rare folk, but tend to make allies with all sorts of people.

Doomed:
The doomed are a broad species, including tiefling and aasimar. They are the result of the actions of an artificial God created by Humans called The Doom. A couple are my own spin on the "evil" folk in contemporary DND.

  • Orkhal: The orcs of Gaia, they were originally made by The Doom from the Humans that created it, and have since grown into their own civilization from their past as a warrior race.

  • Hobbeling: the goblinoids of Gaia, they are covered in a dense fur aside from their face, hands, and feet- all of which ending in sharp points manifested in teeth and claws. They were created from the Halflings that The Doom subjugated, and have developed into a cautious, yet curious people.

  • Coalesced: Slime folk of Gaia which were created from the detritus left behind by The Doom's destruction. They have only recently begun showing themselves, and tend to make friends slowly.

Fae:
When the Prime Element was created, it was quickly sequestered into another dimension. There it influenced the world, and created The Fae- or The Others. These others eventually arrived on Gaia, and their influence is felt in many places. They also brought the advent of Lycanthropy, and have cursed many folk into The Marked.

  • Arthr: Insect folk of tiny size, they are often mistaken for pixies, and lead entire hidden lives, filling more advanced versions of their natural niches.

  • Verdant: Plant people of roughly human size, and shape. They tend to have very keen minds and lead alien lives from most folk.

  • Umbra: A shadow folk with disturbing visage, but are able to change to a shape particular to their heritage. They are a people that must keep their Fae culture hidden, and have brought it to their other Fae kin.

That's about it! There's versatile heritages of course, like half-elf, half-orc, etc. but I've tried my best to make the classic dnd folk happy while also giving something fresh. What do y'all think?

This is an invitation to comment some OC concepts! I love my world, but I want to see what others will like about it!
