Had my first shift today as a cook at a nursing home. I have some notes.
The food served to folks in places like that is made cheap and fast. Makes me want to collaborate with a gastroenterologist about what food causes what problems, and what can be done.
I didn't get a lunch break and was left to handle the kitchen alone a couple times. Idk if a lot of residential centers run like that, so if anyone has insight let me know!
My job title being "cook" is kind of misleading. Yes, I cooked today, but I also ran carts of meals to other stations around the facility, washed dishes, and I'll probably be building the trays, soon.
I gotta be up at 4 to walk there for my shift at 5 am. Wish me luck!
