When I travel, I always take the opportunity to seek out a local, highly-regarded restaurant to eat at. Usually via online lists or shows featuring them, but also word-of-mouth.
In turn, I realize I've only gone to one highly-regarded bar in all my travels (The Dead Rabbit in New York). Even then, I like Social in Colorado more and the small chain Dram And Draught in North Carolina isn't too far behind The Dead Rabbit.
With cocktail bars receiving artesian treatments, I'd like to explore that more as I travel to understand the flavors and experiences going into cocktails today. ๐
