Hi everyone, I am taking a break from Jam posting.
For your consideration, I have developed a simple and delicious breakfast. This came to me in a vision while on 20 mg of THC at 1 AM trying to learn how to play shogi to beat the shogi AI in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Well anyways, this works because it's a simple package that has lots of protein while also having a nice combination of savory and sweet.
Ingredients List:
- 3 Eggo Waffles (Frozen)
- 1 Egg
- Salt
- Neutral Oil
- Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
- Real Maple Syrup
- 1 Tyson Fried Chicken Burger Patty (Frozen)
You can get all of these things at Costco. I'm pretty sure any grocery with a frozen aisle should have this stuff too. For anyone international, you can probably find this stuff in the "America Aisle" if your store has one the waffles at the very least. You could also go ham and make the waffle and fried chicken from scratch.
Steps:
- Preheat oven to whatever, 400 F seems to work fine. Use convection if you have it.
- Preheat cast iron skillet (or non stick frying pan if you don't have a cast iron) to medium heat. Once it's hot put in some oil in it, enough to cover the bottom. Then fry your egg how you like it. I like mine sunny side up, but sometimes I also go for an over easy. Season your egg with a pinch of salt and some fresh black pepper.
- The oven should be preheated by now so put your frozen chicken patty in. Ideally on a wire rack, but if you don't have one put it on a foil lined baking sheet. You could crinkle the foil to get some air under the patty or flip it partway through cooking. Anyways cook the thing until you see some browning.
- Next, stick the waffles into the oven too. If there's room on the same pan/rack then great. Alternatively, if you have a toaster you can just use that.
- You'll wanna bake these items till the waffles are slightly crispy and the chicken is cooked to the internal recommended temperature.
- Assemble the sandwich like this: first waffle, then put some syrup on the waffle (however much you want but don't go too crazy or it'll soak through and lose structural integrity). Then go with the chicken patty, then another waffle, more syrup on the second waffle, then your egg, then the last waffle. I don't put syurp on the last waffle, instead take the whole thing and flip it upside down and press hard. If you cooked your egg over easy or sunny side up, the yolk should pop and run into the bare waffle.
And there you have it. A fairly simple breakfast that is very fulfilling and gets your day started right. I like to pair it with some cold brew, but you can choose any caffeinated bev of your choice. (I had mine with earl grey this morning and it was good).
