Half a year later, it's done.
TL;DR Final thoughts: It's fine at best, but extremely nothing more. I feel nothing by finishing it.
It's not the kind of game that'll stick with me in too many significant and positive ways. Kaiju battles and the NPCs are very good and handing of slavery/lesser-than-human wasn't to me.
Battle system was fine as well. After a very early point, I kinda brained off and stopped optimizing. But when I figured out @AwareWolf's hype for the Titan Block that was a fantastic feeling I kept chasing until the end of the game. I think I'll enjoy the DMC series a lot more with that in mind.
Finished all the quests and got the finest equipment. I even used all my points before the final boss! The quests were satisfying wrt following NPC/city's stories, but I wish the variety of quests changed up a bit more. At the very least they gave a unique monster to fight at every one.
Music is also good. Less standout pieces for me, just solidly high cinematic quality throughout. Unfortunately my favorite song, the Hideway's earlier iteration, disappeared for the rest of the game halfway through. π’
I can't imagine this being one I return to for any reason. Either playing or watching someone's stream. I know there's DLC but I can't imagine what it would offer that'd make me more excited to complete it rather than moving onto FF7R2 (which I wasn't buying until I finished 16).
