It's not my typical output, but I don't think I'm alone as someone who occasionally draws adult situations (like paying taxes or going to the DMV) on my own time.

And I generally don't talk about it to begin with because historically when I have, one or more people inevitably show up to Be Weird and pester me about it in awkward ways, sometimes months after, across platforms. But if I do want to occasionally share art that might feature a nipple or a nude body when the urge hits me, I might as well charge an entry fee for it.

Fanbox seemed like the best option for a while, but that door suddenly slammed shut on anyone who didn't already have at least one transaction before a cutoff date months ago. I should know, I was prepping a page before the door hit my face. Patreon's language doesn't make things seem much better, and I've heard plenty of horror stories about pages being suddenly shut down and fumbled payouts. And I like Ko-fi, but their ToS make it clear that they'll cut you off if you have so much as an impure thought.

So maybe the answer is "nothing" because of payment processors, and if I want to go that route I'll have to have people pay by giving a sack with a dollar sign to some guy named Dave who will stash it at the drop-off point, but I figure it couldn't hurt to ask.

in reply to @retroheart's post:

Itch.io has worked for a while but has limited reach and you HAVE to make sure your settings are set to collected by itch and then wait forever when you trigger payouts.

Subscribestar also works but people find it more annoying to use than Patreon

Commiss.io has way too many confirmation steps but does work

People use ko-fi to some degrees of success but idk their nsfw stance

That's all I got!

Ko-Fi's 18+ stance is, in a word, "don't", so that's not an option.

Itch.io does seem to be the friendliest option in terms of dealing with potential taxes and being the most resilient, even if payouts could take a while, and probably works better as a place for occasional one-off "buy it if you want" single listings compared to the expectations of a subscription platform. So I'm currently leaning towards that. Thanks!

I feel very old man yells at cloud as an Elder Millenial, but I wonder how often checks are used in general these days or if people that much younger than me know the details of how to write one. I haven't written one myself in years, and even then it was because that's how my old apartment complex accepted rent.

As mentioned by others, itch.io is your best bet atm.

A platform like vgen needs to exist, without payment processor integration. Instead, the platform should function as a man-in-the-middle to give both parties a new bank account per transaction or per account with anonymized name and location (Paypal does this per account), so the client could do a simple bank transfer to that using their bank app. The account then could also function as a escrow deposit.

Bank transfers aren't monitored and every bank should be able to do international transfers (exceptions or special fees probably exist in some places).

Issue is personnel and establishing the company in the first place and get the rights to do all of this :/
