Question of the Day!

What effect did the fall of Dalamud have on your WoL?

(submitted by @GraceHorizon)

I had to do a little back and forth on this, since in terms of OOC, none of my characters were WoLs during 1.0 and the canon explanation of "your character was a WoL and got teleported 5 years into the future by Louisoix regardless of 1.0 or 2.0 status" doesn't quite work with their established histories (Mirita was the only one that was actively in Eorzea proper before 2.0; Rija and Khorijin would not come to Eorzea until about a ~6 month span before the start of 2.0).

I also did as much double-checking as I could to compensate for what I don't know, but given that Dalamud's fall and its effects weren't fully described outside of Eorzea proper I'm kind of extrapolating what might've happened. I also haven't done a lot of the content regarding Bozja and the like -- if anyone has any insights or if something seems off, let me know.

Anyway, they can explain it better than I can, so in their own words...

  • Mirita: After her first few encounters with Hildibrand, she gets a little bit of a twitch whenever she sees bombs. Nashu was, uh...a little too enthusiastic about using them and the end result wasn't great!
  • Khorijin: After getting briefly separated from her body during events at Doma Castle, Khorijin really has a thing about hands with sharp nails; the claw hands still haunt her dreams sometimes, and she is especially thorough about thrashing that magitek when she sees it.
  • Rija: Marlboro, but also big seeds and gooey things make her a little nervous. Blame the Aurum Vale for that primarily.

Question of the Day!

What is your Warrior of Light's relationship with violence? How eagerly do they employ it?

(submitted by @ismene)

  • Mirita: A spar is one thing. That doesn't bother her very much and she enjoys it as a means to getting to know someone better or to pass time/have fun. Outside of that? She tries to be judicious about when and how she uses violence; contrary to what Zenos thinks about the matter, she is not as fight-happy as her reputation would lead people to believe, and it takes a lot to get her angry enough that she will actively, eagerly try to hurt you. If you're a punk menacing someone, she'll punch you if you don't back off when you're warned away. If you're actively endangering people with no intent to stop, she will be running in to punch you until you do. If you're a primal or a star-ending threat? The gloves are off.
  • Khorijin: She's a little less restrained about it than Mirita is in a general sense--sparring is completely OK with her too, and she will not be violent without reason, but she is much more willing to meet obstacles with an appropriate level of force with much less provocation. She does it less over the course of the MSQ, but of the three "Ladies of Light" (as I call them in my head) she's the one that takes the least provocation to get that kind of response out of. Using the same example above, she'll glare at a punk right before punching them rather than bothering to use words to drive them off, and being an active endangerment with even the slightest hint of doing it on purpose and not caring? She may not make an effort to kill you outright unless you give her a reason to but she will not try nearly as hard as Mirita to keep you alive.
  • Rija: Given the option, she prefers not to use violence at all and generally disapproves of using it as a first resort. She's not normally up to sparring the way Mirita and Khorijin are and would rather get to know someone by talking to them; similarly, talking someone out of doing something foolish (with potentially veiled threats about what will happen if her offer is refused, though she's sparing about this too) is a lot more her speed and she's glad to use that tactic whenever possible. She is very good at it. However, she has the same sort of quick discernment that Mirita and Khorijin do, and if she senses the need to intervene with a pointed strike or fist, she'll do it, and you won't see her coming. (Primary class is NIN after all.)

Question of the Day!

How has your WoL/OC's appearance changed over the years/expansions? Do they still look the same, or have they aged noticeably?

i also keep forgetting cohost has a 4 picture limit so I decided to just outright collage for Mirita and Khorijin.

  • Mirita: "Well, in terms of actually looking older...my face doesn't really show it most of the time. I think there are a few more lines under my eyes if you look really hard, but Al and Thanny mostly tell me that at most my face just looks a little sharper than they remember. As far as appearance changes in general, though...sometimes when I get the urge, I ask Jandelaine to give me a new styling and I keep my hair that way for a while, though there was that one time I tried different hair color streaks and a different set of facepaint...didn't really work out. As I've gotten older, I've generally gotten more muscular, though these pictures don't show that super well for whatever reason.¹ Aside from that, I have some tattoos that I've kept since things cooled off in Ala Mhigo and got another set done not too long before handling the most recent crisis we had to deal with! Though sometimes in these pictures the tattoos disappear too..."²
Khorijin: You did not include when you had your hair cut even shorter than that "Sun Sweep" you favor at present.
Mirita: The really short hair made my head look funny. We pretend that era never happened!
  • Khorijin: All jests to one side, I am mostly in the same situation as Naira. My facial features have sharpened somewhat. At first, I favored a particular short style with a shaved side and a braided side; I now leave that look to Khoride because I would prefer not to resemble my sister Berude, and for a time I also experimented with a...ponytail, I believe it is called. My preference now is this short, slicked-back hairstyle in most circumstances, though occasionally I do stop in with Jandelaine to see what other styles he has picked up since."
  • Rija: "The benefit of being a Viera: you look the same for a very long time."

¹ Curse Final Fantasy and its refusal to allow a broad variety of body types!
² Also curse our inability to get sweet body tattoos! The ones that Mirita has are from the Stormblood and Endwalker job gear, both of which are visible at different points in her collage.
