it's interesting that even though i skipped nanowrimo i've been thinking about how to get back into writing lately. the good news is that i don't really lack for projects to approach--the one i really want to get back into right now is called viohunters, inspired largely by both the faults and strengths of kamen rider zero-one.

on the advice of someone i no longer speak to on account of him being a complete shitbag, i got a program called campfire to help keep all the worldbuilding notes for viohunters in one spot. it's really helpful for compiling information almost like a wiki, but i think its main flaw, such as it is, is that because of all the stuff it can do (an enyclopedia! character pages! pages for systems! book summaries! more more more!) i get buried in fleshing all that out instead of actually spending time writing.

it's a weird reflection of my game design process in that i need enough structure to know what to start with and then let my brain run with the rest, but it's way too easy for me to build too much of the nonessential things and not spend enough time working on the thing itself. it's a difficult conundrum and what has me currently stuck with viohunters because i want to just get back to writing it and then figuring out where to publish or release it (maybe here? is that sensible? hard to tell), but either i need to keep using campfire to keep things organized or revert back to my personal standby of keeping one long document full of background notes.
