this is the main thing that kills me about most fgc spaces—twitch channels, discords, etc—i want to stop seeing the bigotry frog (or tracings of the bigotry frog into some other thing) (and yes, i am aware that was not the character's original identity but the symbol is pretty corrupted for a lot of people, myself included)

I hate it too. I try to keep it out of the VERY EXPLICITLY QUEER discord I run if you want an invite.

Yeah, I think this is what's going to have to happen: actively cultivating a community of people that share your values, and not merely existing around people who happen to play the same game you do.
Build discords, promote like-minded twitch channels, run your own locals / tournys
the worst is when i find somebody who is, in general attitude, aligned with me on shit and i'm starting to vibe with them well and then the frog appears, like why lolsob i can't stick around for this and it sucks because even if i know you don't mean shit by it i can't be here for this
This has basically been my approach. I had found places that were fine... but none that were good. I'm in no way perfect, but I was pretty sure I could do a better job.
